Huron has asked me to go to Mumbai, India to do some collection work. At first, I was hesitant because I didn't want to leave Jess and Sabrina for that long. Since Sabrina was born, the longest I've been on the road at one time has been 4 days. This will be about 7 days.
Jeff, my boss, made it clear though that the list of people they were interested in having do this work was very short (only 3 or 4 people). This is mainly because very few folks can operate completely isolated if something goes wrong. He said also I was the one he wanted to go. I was honored by that.
In the end, it is only for a week or so and really, when is the next time I'm going to get to India? Jess was very supportive. Plus this trip's on Huron's dime (Hello Business Class!)
One of the the funniest parts of this trip is that I don't have that much work to do when I get over there (collect a handful of images, some network data and mail). In fact, if this was somewhere on the East Coast, like Boston, I'd probably try to round trip it in one day. Can't really do that with India. Hopefully I'll get to see some stuff while I'm there. I've been to too many cities in the US where I've only seen the airport, a hotel, some offices, a restaurant and maybe a few bars. Oh well!
